He is a long-standing member of the British Association of Cargo Surveyors and a qualified Practitioner of the Institute of Quality Assurance (IQA). Widely regarded as our in-house expert on all things steel, Ian’s knowledge spans a broad range of industries and equipment.

Senior Surveyor

Jeff Ball has been a valued member of the Robert Lyon team for over 40 years and is a long-standing member of the British Association of Cargo Surveyors. Based in the North East of England, Jeff brings a wealth of experience and in-depth industry knowledge to his role as Senior Surveyor.

His areas of expertise include:

• Steel consignments and export packing

• Timber and plywood cargo

• Machinery and dry bulk commodities

• Paper and containerised goods

• Frozen food and chemicals

Luke Fox joined Robert Lyon in May 2025, bringing with him a strong background in discipline and operational logistics from his service in the British Army. Based primarily in the North West of England, Luke has quickly established himself as a capable and reliable surveyor.

Director – Office Manager

Lisa Collins joined Robert Lyon in 1998 as an Office Junior and has since advanced to the role of Office Manager and Director.

Lisa plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of the company. Her responsibilities include:

• Receiving and managing survey instructions

• Coordinating and submitting reports

• Handling salvage sales

• Overseeing invoicing and accounts

• Ensuring smooth communication and prompt responses to client queries and instructions

• Personal Effects Surveyor

Her attention to detail helps ensure that Robert Lyon consistently delivers the highest standards.

In addition to her role within the company, Lisa has served as Secretary of the British Association of Cargo Surveyors (BACS) since 2016.

Ryan Rozario joined Robert Lyon in May 2025, bringing valuable international experience from his previous role as a marine surveyor in Dubai. Based in Essex, Ryan has quickly become a key member of our surveying team.

Based in the North East

Charles joined Robert Lyon in 1971, where he developed extensive expertise in steel products over the course of his career. He became a specialist in identifying rust and other forms of damage, with in-depth knowledge of the causes and effects of corrosion in a wide range of environments.

​

After retiring from Robert Lyon in 2019, Charles continues to work with Robert Lyon as a consultant and expert witness, focusing on complex cases involving steel cargoes.

​

He is also a former member of the British Association of Cargo Surveyors.
